About
No Gimmies!! is the golf blog brain-child of Micah Wangerin.
For more than 30 years, Wangerin has been captivated by the game of golf. Through lots of practice, and even more trial-and-error, he has been able to find something which resembles a golf swing (on most days, that is). Wangerin’s favorite modern golfer is Tiger Woods, but he usually finds himself rooting for the underdog.
Wangerin is a self-confessed gadget geek. A break in employment offered him an opportunity to combine his passion for the game of golf with his love of technical things–that combination became No Gimmies!! Through the support of readers, No Gimmies!! endeavors to consistently deliver unique and high-quality content in a fun and professional style. Readers may not agree with everything they find on No Gimmies!! and that is perfectly fine. Part of what makes this website a dynamic community are the different opinions and different perceptions we all share.
Lots of golf blogs offer readers an insight into “what’s in the bag?”… This may be hard to do here, because the bag is constantly changing depending upon the whims of its owner. If you’re interested, at the moment it contains:
- Driver: Nike SQ Sumo² (the legal version), 10.5° Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana shaft
- 3-Wood: TaylorMade R7, 15º TM Reax 55 shaft
- Hybrids: Callaway FT-Hybrid, 17º and 20º Aldila NVS 85 shaft
- Irons: Callaway Big Bertha Fusion, (4-P) Callaway Uniflex steel shaft
- Wedges: Mizuno MPR Black Ni Series, 56º and 60º TT Dynamic Gold Wedge shaft
- Putter: Guerin-Rife 2-Bar Mallet, 33″
- Ball: Titleist ProV1
If you are truly nuts about No Gimmies!! and want to have a chuckle, we found these swing videos which were uploaded to YouTube a few years ago…the swing has changed somewhat since then, but you can check them out here: VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2.
Wangerin lives with his wife Shannon and four-year old daughter Rachel in Martinsburg, West Virginia. He is blessed with terrific friends and a loving family who understand his obsession for golf–some of them even share it. Who could ask for more?!
Feel free to share any feedback you might have–comments, suggestions, questions… We’d love to hear from you.
